Forest landscape used for grounding and nervous system regulation in somatic therapy and nature-based healing

Welcome to Northwoods Velvaere Studio

Somatic Therapy and Holistic Wellness for Women in Minnesota & North Dakota

You've spent so much of your life surviving. Holding everything together. Caring for everyone else. Pushing through trauma, stress, anxiety, or burnout. Somewhere along the way, you may have lost touch with yourself.

You don't have to keep doing it alone.

At Northwoods Velvaere Studio, I provide compassionate, body-centered telehealth somatic therapy for women throughout Minnesota and North Dakota. Together, we'll gently explore the connection between your nervous system, emotions, and life experiences, helping you move beyond survival and reconnect with the person you've always been. I specialize in helping women heal from trauma and chronic stress through an integrative, body-centered approach that combines somatic therapy, Neuro-affirming therapy, nervous system regulation, inner child work, and shadow work grounded in Jungian psychology.

This is not about becoming someone new.

It is about remembering who you are beneath the stress, expectations, and survival strategies that no longer serve you.

You are allowed to slow down.

You are allowed to take up space.

You are allowed to begin again.

The Northwoods Approach

At Northwoods Velvære Studio, therapy is not centered on one single technique.

It is an integrative, body-centered approach that helps women understand their nervous system, reconnect with themselves, and create lasting change at a pace that feels safe.

The Northwoods Approach integrates:

• Somatic therapy

• Nervous system regulation

Neuro-affirming therapy

• Inner child work

• Parts-informed therapy

• Attachment-informed care

• Shadow work grounded in Jungian psychology

• Mindfulness

• Nature-based reflection

Together, these roots support the whole person: body, mind, story, identity, relationships, and the deeper patterns that shape how we move through the world.

Healing is not about becoming someone new. It is about creating the conditions where you can safely grow into who you have always been.

What Is Somatic Therapy?

You are not broken.

Your nervous system learned how to protect you.

The patterns you live with today didn't appear out of nowhere. They developed over time as your body adapted to stress, overwhelm, trauma, or simply carrying too much for too long.

Those patterns may have helped you survive.

Now, they may be keeping you from fully living.

Somatic therapy is especially helpful for women healing from trauma, PTSD, complex PTSD, ADHD, autism, anxiety, depression, and burnout because healing involves both the mind and the nervous system.

Together, we'll gently help your nervous system experience safety, reconnect with your body, and build new patterns that support healing, resilience, and self-trust.

You don't have to force change.

Healing begins by listening to your body with curiosity, compassion, and care.

What Healing Can Look Like

Healing isn't a race to the finish line.

It's a gentle process of reconnecting with yourself—one breath, one moment, one small step at a time.

Together, we'll begin to understand the patterns your nervous system has developed over the years. With compassion and curiosity, we'll gently explore what no longer serves you, creating space for new ways of thinking, feeling, moving, and living.

Healing is also learning to offer yourself the compassion, care, and understanding you've so often given to everyone else.

Over time, healing often feels less like becoming someone new and more like reconnecting with the person you've always been beneath survival.

You may notice a little more peace.

A little more self-compassion.

A little more freedom.

You may find yourself slowing down, trusting yourself more, and living with greater presence instead of constantly surviving.

Healing isn't about perfection.

It's about creating a life that feels more connected, more authentic, and more like your own.

Healing Takes Root

Healing is much like the forest.

A tree doesn't grow overnight. It develops strong roots, weathers storms, sheds what it no longer needs, and welcomes new growth with each season.

Our healing is much the same.

Therapy is one place where healing takes root. From there, healing continues through learning, movement, community, meaningful relationships, and everyday moments of self-compassion.

At Northwoods Velvaere Studio, healing extends beyond the therapy room. Through workshops, educational resources, gentle movement, and community gatherings, you'll find opportunities to continue nurturing your nervous system and reconnecting with yourself.

Like the forest, healing isn't about rushing.

It's about growing into the life that has been waiting for you all along.
